I am Phrancko aka Frank Jernigan. Phrancko is both my Ravelry name and my professional moniker. I've been knitting avidly for only about seven years. I was a software developer for 28 years, the last four of which were at Google which allowed me to retire at the age of 59 in 2005. Though I had learned to knit years before, I came back to the craft in my retirement and quickly found a new passion in my life. After working on TKGA's Master Hand Knitters program for two years, I was awarded the certificate in September, 2017. Since then I have published at least one pattern in every issue of Cast On magazine.
Focussing on men's sweaters for most of my patterns, I developed a technique for knitting sweaters top-down with set-in sleeves completely in the round once the neck was completed. After spending more months developing and generalizing the calculations, I dubbed the technique Phrancko's Seamless Set-in Sleeves. I then decided to create the website Phrancko.com to use the algorithm to create custom fit patterns for anyone to knit. Ten months later, the website is ready to launch. I'm writing this just days before that happens.
In case you are curious and my tiny avatar images are not enough, here is a picture of what I look like now, at the age of 74.
And here I am before I grew the goatee about six months ago.
I hope you enjoy creating the sweaters and sharing them with the rest of the community here in the forum. Also, if you need any help or have a question, don't hesitate to ask.
